Bye, Bye Life...

Bye, Bye Life...
Curious to the end.
Trend setters to the very end, that's what we are.

The LA Times offers a story about how "Boomers are embracing the concept of their own demise with the kind of single-mindedness that has characterized their generation."

We see death as instructive.

"They're making it a point of discussion rather than a point of mute acceptance," declares Krishna Andavolu, editor of Obit magazine.

Obit has been resourceful in trying to expand death coverage. It has a weather map-like feature called "Mourning Obits" that links to newspaper obit sections throughout the country. Some of its offbeat stories include a look at dog-walking at the Congressional Cemetery in Washington, D.C., and an analysis of "The Sopranos" finale.

Another upbeat death enterprise is Patricia Schultz's "1,000 Places to See Before You Die" travel book from Workman Publishing. It 's sold 2 million copies worldwide since 2003. And spinoffs include calendars, journals and a TV series.

Wonder what this will do for the reincarnation industry?
