The Electric Slide

By Ed Arnold

The Electric Slide

One of the most popular gadgets I’ve profiled here was the USB turntable, a device for converting all of your old vinyl records into MP3s for loading to your iPod. Now, I’ve found a gadget for scanning your old slides onto your computer for sharing.

Scanning old photographs is a relatively easy (and boring) task with the proper equipment. Trying to get an old slide scanned is a more trying feat. The Slide And Negative To Digital Picture Converter ($99) makes scanning multiple slides painless. Line the slides in the tray and plug the hi-res scanner into the USB drive on your PC (sadly, no Mac support), and let the software handle the rest.

You’ll be able to get the most out of photos in that dusty shoebox in the attic.
