There are few experiences as exhilarating as traveling to another country. New foods, sights, smells and scenery can be positively captivating.

The SteriPEN Traveler water purifier ($130) is a handheld device that cleans your water using a beam of ultraviolet light, killing all bacteria and viruses. It’s also great for camping because it runs on a rechargeable battery that can be charged with a solar pack ($50).
Stir a glass of water with it and you feel as comfortable as you do using your tap at home - no promises on the local cuisine though.
