It's Show Time in Iowa

For the first time in over 50 years, no incumbent president or vice president is contending for the White House. Both the Democratic and Republican nominations are up for grabs. It’s show time in Iowa and the results raise more questions than they answer.
Just when New Hampshire Republicans thought it was safe to go out and vote for a gun-controlling, gay-rights-lovin', abortion-supporting former mayor of New York, along comes Mike Huckabee to claim the Iowa caucus victory and re-energize the Christian Coalition.
Just when it appeared certain that Hillary Clinton was on a straight line to replace the Bush Dynasty with the Clinton Dynasty, we find that her quest to make history for women may be sidetracked by a history making man.
Mike Huckabee and Barack Obama must be feeling a little bit like Gene Wilder and Cleavon Little in their classic exchange in Blazing Saddles,
"Are we awake?" "We're not sure." "Are we...black?" "Yes we are." "Then we're awake." "But we're very confused."
No one is ready to bestow the party nomination to either of the Iowa winners, but the soup is stirred and the stakes in New Hampshire and South Carolina are now very high.
If John Edwards interprets his second place showing as a vote of confidence for his social programs, he will have to have confirmation from South Carolina and New Hampshire, where he is showing a distant third to Clinton and Obama.
Hillary is a pro. She may be a stronger adversary with a little Iowa blood on her. She managed to make her concession speech with out a “Dean Scream”. In fact, she sounded a Terminator-esque “I’ll be back".
Good night Mitt, wherever you are. Turn the lights out when you leave.
