Volunteers play a large role in Hands On Atlanta's structure and organizational direction. Each project is coordinated by a volunteer Project Coordinator. Project Coordinators serve as liaisons between Hands On Atlanta and the community partner agencies. They recruit and communicate with volunteers and ensure the success of the project. Volunteers also serve on committees to help develop and coordinate Hands On Atlanta's special events and to assist with public relations and fundraising efforts.
Individuals interested in volunteering with Hands On Atlanta should schedule an orientation. Register online or call 404-979-2800 . After participating in an orientation, each Hands On Atlanta volunteer receives The Citizen, Hands On Atlanta's bi-monthly guide to service. Volunteers then sign up for projects according to their interests and availability by contacting the Project Coordinator listed. Volunteers are also able to log onto the web site to search for project information.
Hands On Atlanta builds community and meets critical needs through volunteer service and civic engagement.
Hands On Atlanta values volunteer leadership and believes volunteers should guide every level of the organization.
Basic Volunteering
A long-term commitment is not required.
Volunteer for as few or as many hours as you choose: evening or daytime, weekends or weekdays, whatever your schedule allows.
There are service projects to which you can bring your children. Volunteering as a family is great quality time together.
Some projects use volunteers' special skills. Switch from one project to another at your will. Some volunteers use this opportunity to test out possible career interests.
To find a Hands On affiliate in your area check the Hands On National Network Website. Many opportunities await you.
