Maybe your skin requires an orange a day.

Could a boost of Vitamin C be good for your immune system and your skin? Our testers find out.
You know vitamins are good for your body, but could they be good for your skin and appearance as well? Many major cosmetics company seem to think the answer to this question is "yes" and "yes."

Big Spenders

To give my skin a healthy does of its daily vitamins, I visited Trace Retreat Store & Spa for a C-ESTA facial ($95 for one hour). As the name implies, this treatment does involve putting Vitamin C on the skin to help with "collagen synthesis and tissue repair."

As with most facials, it was the tightening of my skin that I noticed first. However, unlike my other facials, I also immediately felt a tightening in the skin of my neck. I appreciated this added benefit of the vitamins.

The C-ESTA left me feeling particularly glowy, and there was absolutely no redness, so I had no trouble returning to the office immediately afterwards.

Middle of the Road

Juice Beauty, the brainchild of two California women intent on living a healthy lifestyle in every way, provides skincare products with a juice base to better nourish the skin with natural elements and vitamins. All Juice Beauty products are 95 percent organic.

We love the green apple peel (no pun intended and $39.00), antioxidant serum ($45.00) and cleansing gel ($22.00) for their light smells and feel on the skin.

Unfortunately, when it came to moisturizers a near fight broke out between Team Oil-Free Moisturizer ($28.00) and Team Green Apple Moisturizer ($38.00). Team Oil-Free Moisturizer thought that the smell from the green apple lotion was a bit strong, while Team Green Apple Moisturizer called Team Oil-Free "crazy," "boring" and "jealous of our fun ingredients and awesome scent." Each team then retreated to their separate corners, and we figured that our readers could decide for themselves.

You'd have to figure that Tarte Cosmetics, a makeup line with "health couture" as the slogan for its 2007 line, would offer plenty of vitamin rich options, and, of course, they do.

I'm sold on Tarte's Inside Out Vitamin-Infused Lipstick ($22.00). Using BORBA nutraceuiticals, the lipstick is said to "nourish, moisturize and rejuvenate lips." As someone who often finds lip gloss too sticky and lipstick too heavy, Tarte's Inside Out lipstick is perfect – light enough not to feel heavy on the face, but substantial and smooth enough to go on evenly and stay on. Plus, my lips felt softer after use rather than dryer.

Rejuvelash ($40.00 for set) is also worth a try. My lashes really did look longer and fuller after just one use.

Bargain Hunters

Your local drugstore should have some good options if you want some price-friendly vitamin-enriched skincare products.

Garnier Nutrisse, known worldwide for their rich-in-botanicals at-home hair color, currently offers a skincare line with the same focus on vitamins and natural ingredients. Give the Microbead Cream Scrub ($5.95) and Daily Regenerating Moisturizer a try.
