You know what I wish I could eat for Christmas this year? The macaroons I had when I took myself on a trip to Paris last year. For some reason, I've recently become re-obssessed with them, but I find that I don't quite want them enough to pay to have some shipped to me. Why, oh why, can't these be on every street corner?

I did find a few places where I could buy them online, so I may convince myself to order them someday. I'm not sure if Laduree ships from Paris or not, but just looking at these is a treat. Same goes for the best macaroons in the universe as we know it, from Pierre Herme.

So many sites have unique gifts you can buy for people on your list for Christmas ... or during any other time of year that you're feeling generous. I ordered this year from The Curiosity Shoppe, for example - really fun items like these classic Japanese notebooks and these vintage-looking French notebooks. I suppose they have things other than notebooks - but really, why would anyone on your gift list need anything other than these perfect little parcels of paper? Actually, I pretty much just hoard these notebooks and don't give them away at all.
