Top 7 Spots to Chill Out

1. Las Lenas
Mendoza, Argentina
Ski bums don't have to wait for winter to roll around again in order to hit the slopes. Plenty of spots in the Southern Hemisphere, especially locales in Chile and Argentina, are blessed with snow and towering peaks up to the skiing enthusiast's challenge all summer long. The true expert should try his or her hand at one of the 40 runs at Las Lenas – it's the summer training headquarters for the U.S., French and Swiss Olympic ski teams.
2. Dubai Snow Park
Dubai, United Arab Emirates
Leave it to the wealthy oil barons of Dubai to ensure that the mountain will indeed move to Muhammad. The natural climate of your surroundings not exactly conducive to wintry weather? Well, just build your own artificial environment. This is the logic behind Ski Dubai, the "first indoor ski resort in the Middle East." You can ski or snowboard year-round in Ski Dubai, or, for a less active approach, head over to the Snow Park for snowball fights, snowman-building and all the snow angels your heart desires.
3. Absolut Icebar
London, Milan, Stockholm, Jukkasjarvi and Tokyo
By July, the famous Ice Hotel of Sweden is long gone, but you can still find icy architecture (and a perfectly chilled martini) at any one of the Absolut Icebars open year-round in some of the major cities of the globe. The ice used to construct each Absolut Icebar is made only from water pulled directly from a river in the Lapland of Sweden where the purest, least contaminated waters of the world are purported to be. (Yes, even Tokyo imports their ice.) With design changes every six months, there's always something new, and cool, happening at the Icebar.

New Zealand
Named in honor of Captain James Cook, renowned British sea captain, Mt. Cook stands as the highest peak in New Zealand. With its extreme elevation and location in the Southern Hemisphere, you'll find snow atop Mt. Cook even in July and August. A trek to the top of the mountain will provide you with astounding views Kiwiland and a nice respite from summer's heat.
5. Qua's Arctic Ice Room
Las Vegas, Nevada
It isn't just magicians Penn and Teller who seem to make the impossible happen in Las Vegas – these days, you'll find snow at Caesar's Palace. The casino recently expanded their spa area to include a room with falling snow and consistent temperatures of 55 degrees Fahrenheit. The chilly air is designed to stimulate and invigorate the body after any one of the spa's treatments from massage to body wraps, but it's probably a safe bet that any time in the Arctic Ice Room will be appreciated after a day in the Nevada desert's heat.
6. An Arctic Tour
Greenland
For the truly cold-natured, it would be hard to beat a cruise through the icy waters of the Northern Atlantic. You can tour Greenland's tundra, fjords and glaciers, and even watch some kayak sporting, all while resting assured that the temperature never rises much above the summer average of 45 degrees Fahrenheit.
7. Johannesburg
South Africa
South Africa might seem like an unlikely choice for cooler weather, but if you're willing to take a chance, this just might be the destination for the high temperature escape that you're craving. Last August, Johannesburg saw its first snowfall since 1981. And who knows? This year might be another record-breaker for those wishing for snow in Africa.
