Each year The Mobil Travel Guide recognizes the country’s finest lodges and eateries. The Guide’s four and five star awards are highly coveted throughout the hospitality industry. Check out ReZoom’s seven favorites from this distinguished list.

1. The Inn on Mt. Ada
Santa Catalina Island, California

For a truly intimate weekend getaway, make plans to stay in one of the six rooms at The Inn on Mt. Ada on Catalina Island. Originally the home of Mr. and Mrs. William Wrigley, Jr., former owners of the Chicago Cubs who have a rather famous landmark in the Windy City named for them, presidents and royalty were once entertained at the property. Today, The Inn is open to the public, and you can experience the waterfront beauty that was previously available only to the elite. From the in-room fireplaces to the private balconies, it’s hard to beat the private luxury of The Inn on Mt. Ada.

2. Blackberry Farm
Walland, Tennessee

With the legendary winters, it’s no wonder so many native Chicagoans need to escape to greener pastures for at least part of the year. Just like the Wrigleys, Mr. and Mrs. Dave Laiser decided to venture beyond the Midwest metropolis to construct their “dream home.” Blackberry Farm is the result of this quest. And, while the Southern Setting and humble name might be deceiving, there is nothing meek about a trip to Blackberry Farm. From top-of-the-line linens to a wine selection any sommelier would drool over, this Tennessee hotel will make you swoon.

3. Wequassett Inn
Cape Code, Massachusetts

Long a spot visited by the rich and famous, Cape Cod, Massachusetts has earned its stellar reputation. From the quaint, always recognizable housing style to the offerings of fresh fish pulled straight from the sea, Cape Cod is an ideal vacation spot. And the Wequassett Inn Resort & Golf Club delivers all of the finest to those looking for a New England getaway. With five dining options onsite, distinctive accommodations and adjoining Cape Cod National Golf Club, you’ll lack for nothing at the Wequassett.

4. The White Barn Inn & Spa
Kennebunkport, Maine

What the Kennedys did for Cape Cod and Martha’s Vineyard, the Bush family did for Kennebunkport, Maine. If you’re looking to stay in another spot deserving of its place in Americana, The White Barn Inn & Spa makes for a fantastic romantic getaway. While you probably won’t need much more than the woods and candlelight to inspire amorous thoughts, the exquisite rooms and culinary delights are unparalleled. (The spa isn’t too shabby either.)

5. The Resort at Paws Up
Greenough, Montana

For a destination that packs a little more punch, consider balancing adventure with relaxation at The Resort at Paws Up in Montana. Rollicking rivers, horses and log cabins let you know that you’re definitely in the American West, while the five-star restaurant and in-room massage menu provide guests with the wealth of options only found at the country’s finest resorts.

6. Halekulani Hotel
Waikiki, Hawaii

If your definition of romance leans more towards white sand beaches and waves crashing on the beach, the Halekulani Hotel is not to be missed. Oceanside in Waikiki, Halekulani actually mean “House Befitting Heaven.” With the smell of orchids accompanying your every step, this might be one of the few examples of truth in advertising. Honeymooners or second honeymooners should book the Vera Wang Suite – the world’s only hotel accommodations designed by the queen of wedded bliss herself.

7. The Inn at Little Washington
Washington, Virginia

Spending a weekend stowed away at The Inn at Little Washington won’t be a trip you soon forget. Between the fifteen rooming choices, fine shops in a restored Colonial tavern and surrounding countryside, the best of small town life and luxury combine in Washington, Virginia. But what many consider to be the true capstone to The Inn is the 5-star restaurant headed by chef and part-owner, Patrick O’Connell. The International Herald Tribune named the restaurant at The Inn as one of the top 10 restaurants in the world. (Yep, you heard that right – the world.) Between the wine selection (of which there are 14,000 varieties in the cellar), the luxuriant English-inspired décor and cutting edge fare, you’re sure to enjoy the meal of a lifetime. Of course, what else would you expect of a hotel where a Dalmatian in pearls is the first of the staff to greet you on arrival?
