California Transplant Finds Roots

Like “cool” jazz, Sonoma County pinots and the San Francisco Bay, Candace Wade could definitely be described as quintessentially west coast. A longtime resident of Los Angeles and San Francisco, she wasn’t sure if she ever wanted to leave. Plus, the locale was the logical choice for a screenwriter.

But when a work based on the life of Confederate General Nathan Bedford Forrest brought her to the rolling hills of Tennessee, Candace found herself feeling right at home.

“It was like looking across the room and falling in love immediately,” she said. "The landscape took over my heart."

Candace and her husband moved to Tennessee soon thereafter. While that big screenwriting success remains on the horizon, Candace feels that Tennessee has nurtured her creativity.
