Paige Morehead Finds Her Calling

After working as a health care manager for many years, Paige Moorehead realized that her true calling was as an artist. More specifically, she wanted to be a painter. Still, there were bills to pay, and painting has never been known as a particularly lucrative field.

During her first show, an informal "wine and cheese" gathering planned by her sister, she wound up selling a whopping twenty-nine paintings. By now, the choice was clear. It was time for Paige to pursue her true passion.

She wasn’t sure that she could fully give up her day job, so she continued to work in the health care field while painting on the side. Finally Paige’s husband noted that she was spending half her time in the studio and the other half conducting business; he encouraged her to make a choice and devote all of her time to either one or the other, even agreeing to support her during the lean times.

Fortunately, those lean times were not so lean. Today, Paige supports herself entirely through her artwork, with several shows and commissioned pieces each year.

"Does it make me feel important?" she asked. "Yeah, it does."
